Lincoln math teacher receives presidential award-Please join us in congratulating Jerel Welker, high school mathematics teacher at Southwest High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, recipient of the 2007 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Mr. Welker participated in the 2006 UNL Professional Development Science and Math Summer Technology Institute, co-sponsored by the Nebraska Transportation Center in the College of Engineering and the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mr. Welker stated that he was able to incorporate information he received during the Summer Institute as part of his application for this award.
